For making any sort of decision, data is awesome. It gives you confidence you’re making the right decision and heading in the right direction. I’ve worked with and interviewed a lot of product managers and the weak ones have one thing in common: they are scared to have an opinion, out of fear that they will be accused of being too subjective. They expect data to do all the work for them. This is lazy and the products that get built entirely from data are boring and contribute little of value. Don’t be afraid to an opinion, about where you want the world to go and how you think you might get there. Data won’t tell the story; that part is up to you.
